Laura Linney is an American actress who is famous for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. She was raised by an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. Linney became interested in the theatre during time spent in the summer with her father, who was famous. Her studies in acting were through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. After just two short months after graduating she began her Broadway-based career. The following year she made her debut in the world of film and television. Since then she has been appearing in a variety of films, TV productions and stage shows. She has been nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her professional career. However, despite all the accolades, her love for the theatre isn't gone in her, and she performs in the stage and on screen.
